It depends what you're doing...

A jack works good.  Especially the crappy little scissor jack out of the last car that you sold.  Those are handy as all getup.
You can tip it up on the back rack.  That makes many projects more "doable".
You can drive the ATV onto a pickup (or trailer), then support your loading ramps with a sawhorse or similar (like the front porch stairs if you're sure nobody's looking), and back out onto the leveled ramps.  If you're not draining fluids, you don't even need leveled ramps, just drive up onto them.

A jack with blocks here.  There has to be a better, more stable method out there!

i have two of the original Crewline ATV lifts/jacks, awesome units then they stopped making them , but looks exactly as the Craftsman jack in the attachment from prdplmr, except when they closed out, they had the crewlines at Sam's for $75, i bought several, kept two and sold the rest

I use craftsman atv/mc jack and its great. Nice thing about it is it locks like jack stands so u ant gotta worry about jack lowerin on ya. Nother great feature is once lifted u can roll the wheeler all over the place. I use to store my bike up against wall in garage between toolbox and work table. I could just jack it up and wheel it right up against the wall to get it outta the way. Best thing since sliced CHEESE!!!

I use a motorcycle jack, and built a stand for my motorcycle that I am going to use as soon as I get the sliding extentions made for the legs, to get the height that I need for the atv. very sturdy with the bike on it.

Hey Dew, that stand is a great idea. I'd already welded extensions on the jack itself, but never really came up with a good stand idea....THANKS.
I thought I had pictures of the jack extensions but I couldn't find them. I'll take some more tomorrow.

Here is the Crafsman that I use. I really like it, it seems really well made. It is also easy to load and unload in and out of the truck. I am all the time changing tire and wheel setups on my machines for one type of terain or another. Its been well worth the money.

I use my 4-post car lift.  i pull the atv up over the car ramp from the side so the atv is perpendicular to the ramp.  this way the ramp will lift the atv up like an atv lift.  i can then go up with it as high as needed over 6ft.
