Ok...This is for those of you who have had/will have the fuel pump go out on one of these three quads.  All three of them use the same pump, which retails for $394.95 from Arctic Cat.  The problem is that you can't buy just the pump but must buy the entire assembly.  Thus, I began searching for another option.  What I arrived at is the fuel pump from a 1990 Ford Mustang 4cyl.  This is Auto Zone part # E2061 and retails for around $90 bucks.  This pump contains the same inlet, outlet, diameter, and height, so therefore it will work.  However, it uses a different connector.  Making it work is as simple as removing the cover from the stock connector and connecting the(+ and -) wires(they use the same connectors, I believe, although I cut/crimped my own before I realized this).  From there, you are good to go, and you saved $300 bucks...

Again, that is Autozone Part Number E2061 for a replacement fuel pump for the Arctic Cat 700/700h1/950...

Good catch. This kind of thing is just facinating. Was it here (or on www.arctichat.com) that they said that the CV boots from a metro are the same as the ones on the Cats. There was another part too. Maybe someone should create a Part change out thread with all these types of things listed. I told a friend that I may have to pick up one of those cars and part it out to have spares around.

Does it give out the same volume and pressure as the cat pump does..?????????

It's already been added to the sticky...

GWC, the pump itself never matters as long as it is putting out enough.  Basically, the injector controls volume and the regulator controls pressure.  As long as the pump is not running short on either, you are good to go...

Guys, put this on hold for now until I can further diagnose some stuff.  For some odd reason, I'm not building the fuel pressure that I'd like and it has caused me all kinds of greif trying to get it tuned until I got the problem diagnosed.  I installed an inline pressure gauge and am only getting around 10psi pressure in my fuel line.  I had to hook my line up to Tbonesgrizz's 700h1 just to confirm that the gauge is reading correctly.  It was.  And for those with 700h1s, they make 41-44psi of pressure at the fuel rail.  I'll farther diagnose it tomorrow, as I've spent about 14 hours the past two days fighting this and am at wits end with it for now.  When I get a better or clearer solution, I will post back and let everyone know.  It looks like I may have been wrong on this one guys but let me run some more tests tomorrow to confirm it...

Do you think the low voltage from the atv comparred to the car voltage is causing this since that pump is made for a car?

Danny, that thought ran through my head.  The voltage is the same to both pumps(both using a 12v battery).  I thought perhaps the difference in current is the culprit(big difference here).  However, they both use approximately the same size wiring harness(meaning they apply approximately the same voltage/current at least in my original theory).  It could also be none of this stuff.  I have an idea(based on my reassembly) and I will be attacking it first thing tomorrow.  I'll definately know by tomorrow one way or another...

Good luck with it Jarrett and let us know your findings.  Would be nice to save that $300 if and when it happens

One thing that I'm positive about is that I have an extensive fuel leak somewhere in the system.  My pressure bleads off in a matter of seconds, while it should hold once the pump is primed up with the key on(Turner's did).

I do know this, I have NO doubts in the VDI and it's ability to spark/run a quad.  With about 50 rather insane remaps on starting/warm up parameters, I had it starting/running my quad, even with an extensive pressure leak(running at 1/4 recommended pressure)...That's pretty insane, really...

But with the current, is the wire length any different?  Higher current can be ran over a shorter distance with the same gauge as lower current over a longer distance.

squeak, it could be somewhat different(as in a few inches).  The only issue is that the pump is putting out 1/4 the pressure it should be...If it was within a few psi, I'd bet that your correct.

Will know more in a few hours and will post back..

well guys, the pump pressure is fine and I see no reason that it will not work with my quad.  I maxed it at around 63psi just a second ago.  Now it's time to find my leak

I think the pump is going to work

Its funny how some odd parts fit on quads.  Mmrpm is useing 42 pund Ford Motor Sport injectors on his turbo Renegade.  Cliped right into the fuel line.

well, disregard everything I've said since the initial post and consider me a mo-RON!  The fuel pump works great.

I had put a rubber o-ring on the wrong location on the regulator and this was allowing pressure to bypass the regulator(what I thought it probably was last night).  Got the O-Ring right, and pressure went to exactly what I was hoping for at ~40psi.  Cranked her up and she idled like a champ!!

So, in final, YES, the fuel pump from an early 90s 4cyl mustang does work.  $95.00 at your local auto zone!

that pump looks pretty standard, wich also leads me to think the aftermatket in tank pumps such as walbro would also work.  in such case the posibilities are endless.

It does not come with filter attached...The filter is an additional ~ 10 bucks and attaches to the bottom of the fuel pump.  It should be noted that Suzuki uses an entirely different pump than AC, even though they are running the same engine...
