I bought some Ricochet A-arms guards for my KQ450 and am not too happy about how they fill up with mud, leaves, sticks and such, especially the rears. Then when you try to wash them out and think you've done a good job, all you have to do is reach your hand down in front of the CV boot (in the rear) and realize there's still a ton of mud and stuff down there. So I'm beginning to wonder if I like these things or not and whether I could do without them. Or is there a way I could modify them so they'll clean out easier but still do their jobs in protecting the CV boots?

Then there's the stock skid plate. There seems to be no way of cleaning all the mud out of this thing without taking it off and I don't want to have to do that after every ride in the mud. I'm wondering if a flat aluminum skid plate would be easier to clean.

Any thoughts?

Rebel82 Hey man I feel your pain! For the boot guards, take them & drill several holes in them, then reinstall! I've been meaning to do this myself, but haven't had time! If you replace the skids, do the same thing & it'll drain nicely! Just while drilling, make sure to get enough holes up next to the frame tube, this will help to drain all debris & crap perty easily! Later & hope this helps                   Brandon

good luck with that. i drilled 5 5/8" holes around the tube in the rear guards, and it really didnt do anything. im running the suzuki  guards and they suck as well for protection and clean out. whats worse is if you dont get the mud out after the ride its twice as hard  to get out later, and also if not removed it just rubs the piss out of the boot! i can usually get the stock skid pretty clean but soon im gonna put a 4x4 beam up on some 4x4 post so i can winch my quad up on end to clean it.

Or you can do like I do and find a nice water hole and just drive through it a few times that usually cleans out all the mud and stuff.  I have one that is not to far from my place with gravel bottom that works nice for cleaning out the skids and A-arm guards.  Other than that it is taking them off to clean them which is a pain in the *** to do after every ride or so.  If anyone find real good solution to this then post it greatly appreciated.
