With that much horsepower, you think it will stomp a Outty 800 or a T-cat 1000?That would be cool if it did.

Its only got 1.5hp on the Outty 800R, and 4hp on the T-Cat. Thats not enough of a difference to stomp anything, with the numbers that close it all comes down to the rider. And who knows, the claimed 70hp might not even be acurate, they have a tendency to stretch their numbers.

Actually I also felt that Polaris was more honest with their numbers than most other manufacturers.  I mean, if they were like AC they would've called it the SPMN XP 900.

Well I kind of think they(polaris) streched the 800 by about 40cc!

Of course, they also underrated the 400 by 50cc.

the outy is over 100 pounds less. More sporty than the polaris 850. I rode the XP550 and it did feel sportier than the old body style. But no where near as sporty as the Renagade.  I am a diehard Polaris guy but I don't think the polaris will run with the renagade

I have already ordered and put my deposit down for my 850 XP here in NC. The dealer told me the rep's say they will get it in early November. I would think the Can-Am 800 would still outrun  it in the 1/8 of a mile due to the weight difference but the PoPo 800 XP should catch in after the quarter mile mark.

Oh good one, wait..didn't Polaris do the same with the SP 760? I mean, SP 800*?

It makes any brand look bad for doing this. Call them what they bascially are...TCat a 950 and the SP 800 a 750. If Polaris had called the 800 a 750 like they should've, it would've made the new XP 850 more desireable. A lot of people (uneducated to the new XP) are going to look at the 850 at the dealer and think "I already have an 800, why the heck spend all of this money on an 850?"

IMO you should never overrate for present sales, always underrate or stay true for future sales!

I'm ready for the 850 to hit the dealers, should be an awesome quad!

i was just up at Polaris R&D in Wyoming Mn last week test riding the new XP's they have the best ride quality I have ever ridden they are so awesome they make the already awesome sportsmans ride feel like it is way outdated. The power steering that polaris has on them is amazing as well they steer so easy when moving slow but they have a speed sensor which takes power steering away the faster you go so you don't get the out of control feeling you do from the yamaha and hondas. The power they haveis so different than anything else I have ridden it is so smooth and doesn't feel so all or nothing like the current 800. I just have to decide what color 850 I want now.

That was what I was waiting to hear! That sensor imo now makes power steering an incredible force in the evolution of all terrain vehicles!

I agree, call 'em what they are. The 800 should have been a 750. But I think most of us are smart enough to research what we are buying, so I doubt it will effect people giving up the "800" for the 850, I know I'm getting an 850 :)
On topic- I talked to someone at Polaris HQ, they said non-eps 850's should hit dealers late Sep. EPS models should arrive late late Nov early Dec, but that is all subject to slide to the right.

If your researching look on the polaris site it list the 800 as 760cc and the 850 as 850cc

No one has to worry if the 850cc's are legit because it's gonna take all of that to kick out 70 horsepower. And if a 820 is kickin that out (assuming this would be the actual cc's if they were lying), goodbye Rotax fame, hello Weber!
