Upon removing my exhaust header yesterday we found a slightly melted area in the back side of the cluch cover housing. I may be the only 1 so far with this issue but thought I'd share it here just for refference.

My header still had the heat sheild intact and this area of damage is hardly noticable. It's located almost directly center of the SECONDARY pulley on the top back side of the plastic BACK cover of the housing. This slight melt has made a hairline crack in the housing, which allows WATER in.

I've redone my belt snorkles over & over and could not figure out why it was still getting wet. Well here's the fix.

Hope this helps anyone with similar problems, ar it will atleast give the 700 guys an extra maintenance area to keep an eye on.

HAVE A NICE DAY!!!!

Had a similar issue with my H1 from the dealer, radiator hose from the factory was too close to the heat shield on the pipe.  Luckily I found it while I was doing some inspection prior to relocating the radiator.

If I wasn't working on the actual exhaust I'd have never caught it. Like I said, I could be the only "lucky" 1 with this problem but I figured it was a good heads up for some to watch.

JB Weld here I come, LOL. Where's greenhead when I need him.

This is from the backside.

Look in this 2nd pic between the exhaust you see & the flat VIN # plate. You can slightly see the melt, although it actually behing there.

This is the damage that came through.

Another shot. Take note that that is the SECONDARY PULLEY, the 1 towards the rear wheel for those who don't know.

And just more shots.

Nice info...the head pipe definately gets pretty close right there...

I might add some heatshielding to that location myself as a precaution..

i bet you could put some of that stainless heat shield tape on the housing to protect it. or header wrap

Yea, I'm sure just a simple Maeir Heat Tile applied there would correct this, but in my case...........IT'S TOO LATE!!! LOL. Easy fix though. I'm just gonna seal it however I can with JB Weld or something. But atleast we all know now.
