Have you tried calling around to see where the next closest dealer is or know anyone that has good atv mechanical experience?

Honda 680, we sell gear reductions for the 500FM, 420RH, and the 650/680RN. It's hard to believe your Honda dealer CAN'T install the gear. Since he has a Honda parts diagram of the ATV, he more than likely just does not want to. Also, they can buy the part from us (comes with step by step instructions) and make a profit on that part, plus make money on the labor. Amazing !!!!

just get you a service manual and do it yorself. take your time and you will be fine. Unless you don't want to full with it, otherwise you might try explaining a little more to your honda dealer about what takes place, in replaceing the gears and where in the engine they are replaced. I'm sure they know how, just might not realize it.

if that dealer doesn't know how to install a gear reduction kit i would second guess ever bringing them anything to work on.  Even up here in northern alberta canada, my dealer buys all their special parts from highlifter and happily installs them for people cause they make a bundle on the labor

I agree with drew7693 they probably just don't know what it is, and hearing "gear reduction" they are probably thinking that you want to change every gear in the trans but if you explain what is in the kit they should be able to do it no problem. My local dealer was a little leary about installing a clutch kit in my Rancher but when I explained to them what it was they were like oh ok no problem. I could've done it myself but I was lazy and I like working on cars not atvs lol.
