Remove the large square clip and file down or round the square edge that will go in the diff first. This will make installing easier but will not effect the chance of the axle popping out when riding. It has been my experiene as well that you will have to get the axle absolutely straight when hammering it in.

put the axle nut on first to save the threads or something to protcet the threads. And use a brass hammer so you don't mushroom the end

don't grind the clip. putting the nut on the end and tapping it with a hammer is the best. even a dead blow hammer works really good

Put a 2-by-4 on the end and whack away, after putting the axle nut on. HASE TO BE PERFECTLY STRAIGHT!
