On 02 polaris 700 it will go into fourwheel drive forward but wont in reverse what could be the problem?

maybe a wiring problem from the safety button, pull the front cover off, put a test light on the 4x4 signal wire see if it has voltage when in R.

Does it have a reverse override button? If so, are you pushing it when in reverse?
