Riddle me this batman....

28x10.5 (left) laws compaired to 27x9.5's (right).  Each on the exact same rims and with 6psi both on Polaris Sportsman 500's...  Anyone care to defend Highlifter's measurement... or does this disprove it????

oh yea, the 28x10.5's run WAAAYYYYY short, kinda like the 589's!  but yet if you get the 28x9.5 they tend to run .5-.75" tall!  i went threw that ordeal with mine.

Even Dan will tell you teh 28x10.5's measure short.  That's worse than skinny Vampires, because those 27x9.5's are probably a bit short, and those 28's are about an inch shorter than them.  But you could be in between lugs.  Still shouldn't even be that close though.

Yeah it has been know for a while the 28x10.5s run pretty short. Dan himself will confirm that for you. I'm sure he will chime in shortly.

It could be parked inbetween the lugs and the 10.5's look like they are worn down more also, none the less that stinks. I would much rather need less air press. (3-6psi) to be at advertised height than extra air pressure (10-15psi).

both tires are sitting in-between the lugs - and yes the 10.5's are a tad bit more wore down than the 9.5's - but not 1"...

Both sets of my 27x9.5's run short @ 26.25"-26.50" with 4-5 psi.
Here is a pic of them next to the notoriously short 28x10 Mexican made EDL's. for pic reference, the EDL's are measuring right at or 1/8" below 27" even.

also this is a good chance to notice the flatter profile of the 27's rather than the 28's.  I can already tell that the 28's ride and wear much worse.
unless I was getting 28x9.5's for pit racing Id stay away from 28's and get the 29's.

a tire mold isn't exactly an easy thing to make.  i have small plastic injection molds made and they start around $5k per mold and go up to $120k.  i can just imagine what a tire mold would cost.  granted they aren't held to the tolerances i require, there is still a LOT of material in the mold itself.  then they have to take into consideration the shrinkage characteristics of the plastic/rubber used.  and if they take them out of the mold too soon they will shrink more.  i don't care how well something is modeled and planned out in the mold making process, getting it right the first time every time is nearly impossible.  and its not like HL is going through a low end shop to have the outlaws made.  sometimes you just have to accept that what you contracted out isn't perfect, but usable for the time being, and plan to have it corrected down the road.

I like my 27x9.5's even if they do measure a bit short. They have ride and perform well. I also like the 28x9.5's (which measure true) and 29.5x10's for the same reasons as the 27's. The 27x12's, 29.5x12's and 31x11's also have that flat profile which makes them ride smoother and wear evenly unlike the 28x12.5's and 28x10.5's.

Not to give any reasoning, but those 28's look ALOT more worn than the 27's......

the worn factor won't make that much of a difference.  the 28x10.5's and the 28x12.5's roll on the point of the lug, they have a "ballon" type carcass, where the 27's and 29.5's have a flatter profile.  it's pretty easily seen in the pics above.
