I have a King Quad 700 and i was wondering if I could run 28 bugs with out a lift and would it lead to any mechanical problems?

B/c I was going to get some 27" Kenda Executioners but I could get some
28" Bugs that are going to be cheaper and weigh less.

I had 27" bugs on my KQ without a lift but they were mounted on SRA rear wheels.  They will probably hit on the black bar or be very close I would think especially if you put them on stock wheels.

So I should probably get some 27" Bugs then instead.  Also what do you think about Kenda Executioners vs. Bugs? I plan on getting some new rims in the near future but plan on buying the tires first.

What bolt pattern are king quad rims?

You can probably get the 28" bugs to work but you will need spacers or aftermarket wheels.  I have 26" bighorns which are about 27" tall on my stock wheels and they rub even with my lift.
There is only a 1/2" difference between 27" and 28" tires.

Thanks for the replies...I might just go with 27"s to be on the safe side.

So what tires are you wanting to go with. If 28" Bugs are lil bigger than 28's you might have some problems. But you can fit 27-28"s on a King Quad. What rims you have?

I have the stock rims as of right now.  I plan to buy the tires and then the rims at a later date.  I thought about running 28" Bugs but from some of the post I might need to run 27" bugs if I'm going to have stock rims for a while.

I would like to run 28x10x12 front and 28x12x12 on the back, but I wouldn't have a problem running 27x10x12 and 27x12x12 if they fit (no rubbing).

With the 28's you might have a problem. 27's should fit no problem.

Cool...thanks for the info.

One last question would you recommend/ go with 27" Bugs or Executioners?  They will mostly be used to ride on dirt roads and during hunting season.  I was mainly wanting bigger tires to help with ground clearance with out having to get a lift.

Id say Bugs for you. Theres alot of other good tires that Id recommend more. Zillas are really good and wear really well. Even Mudlites, XTR's, or Swamplites. Is there any reasons why you went with them 2 tires?

From what I have read, the Bugs and Executioner both do a little better in the mud than mudlites and swaplites.  I thought both the bugs and executioners would wear better than the zillas. As for the XTRs I just figured one of the other tires would be just as good at a cheaper price.

I figure most of my riding will be 70% trails/dirt roads at the hunting club and 30% mud....if this will help....I'm open to any suggestions.

Thanks, Jay

Ive been really pleased with my Zillas. I have 27's and there on my Rhino, and with all that weight and I still drive on pavement alot and they dont look worn down at all. There smooth and do great on the trail and mud. The Ex.. run short, but wear really good.

I'm going to look into the zillas some more, but let me ask you this. Will the extra weight from the 27" Executioner be a problem they weigh about
30lbs for a 27x10x12 and 33-34lbs for a 27x12x12. Should I be worried about the extra weight breaking parts and causing mechanical problems.

Ive never worried about weight. You shouldnt have a problem with no lift.

Solitude are you saying that I need to get SRA rims for the rear even though its IRS....and get IRS wheels for the front.  I'm thinking about going aheafd and getting the rims at the same time that way I can run 28s.

So here is what I'm thinking about:
IRS 12x7 itp212 w/ 28x10x12 (mud bug) for the front       and
SRA 12x7 itp212 w/ 28x12x12 (mud bug) on the back

and I should be okay with no lift or spacers correct?

You should be fine like that Jayslim but you may have to crank the preload on your shocks up depending on your weight you're carrying.

Should I replace my springs with HL springs to help with this.  Later down the road I plan to add a 2" or 3" lift.

I would just get the tires and wheels on there and see if you even need them which I don't think you will.  Like I told you before I had the setup you are thinking about with 27" Bugs and I never needed the lift.  I just got the lift when I got my Mudzillas so I'd have extra GC.

I have an 08 750 and I just bought 28" bugs and although I have not rode them yet (still breaking in motor), we put them on and they fit okay-I guess only time will tell once I ride them if I need spacers or not or to cut the bar in the back fenderwell. I would clutch your bike if you are going to put 27"+ tires on it

I wouldn't think I would need a clutch kit as long as I stay 28"s and lower anything over 28"s I agree I would need a clutch kit. However how do you like your mud bugs as of now.

Solitude how do your zillas compare to mudlites in the mud?

I have a buddy who has a 660 grizzly w/ 27" mudlites and I just want to make sure I can go any where he can go (our riding ability is even so it really only comes down to the rides).
