what about lift?
did you put any lift on or just run the preload nuts down?

i just adjusted the preload on my rzr S with the nuts a few minutes ago to raise it up. and with the stock tires on it i have about 16 1/4" clearance in the front and 14 1/2" in the rear

how bout you?

it will settle to about 12" or 13" in a week or so, I have 28 in mudwiser tires and no lift pre load is 3/4 the way up and its settled in good at 13 and a half.they are saying it weakens the springs to leve them fully adjusted and they will sag if you leve them all the way up. When I first did mine I had 17 inches of clearance but its settledafter about a week. Im looking at a 3" lift kit but not sure what will fit it.

Are the springs supposed to settle at the stock preload? Is this something to be concerned
about long-term?

Im not sure if they are suppost to weaken and settle or not but after being adjusted to 3/4 the way up for about 2 weeks my RZR is exactly at 13 inches of ground clearance and the day I adjusted them after riding for a few hours I checked them and I had 17 inches of clearance. I am in the process of getting a lift to try and see if it will fit on the rzr S model. After review of the DVD it says not to leave the springs adjusted all the way up, it says to adjust them for heavy loads then readjust them to the original settings.  I am thinking it weakens the springs to leave them adjusted up. I mean the stock ground clearance is 12 and a half inches, I put 28 in tires on that alone should have set it up an additional 2 inches to make it standard 14 and 1/2 on the ground clearnace but today it measured 13 and a half inches, a half an inch less than the other day when I measured it. So I would definatly suggest a lift kit if they make one that will fit the S model and not to adjust the shocks all the way up. Well not adjust them up and leave them. Just my 2 cents.

if you put a lift on it with the stock axles, you will end up breaking all 4 of them as soon as each of the tires drop down enough, say like in a hole, or if you get it flexed out or jumping it.

the shocks allow so much down travel stock that they run out of stroke right before the limit of the axles joints. so if you push them down further, unless you have some limit straps on the suspension, its not gonna work...(for very long)

I think I've changed my mind on buying an "S".

If the drop is the problem with the axles why not use a limiting strap?

I guess you could just put it up on jack stands to take the pressure off of the springs during the week in between rides.

You can't be serious!  Sounds like Polaris and Fox have some bugs to work out.  Great looking machine, wish I had the dough to pick one up.

HAHA, yup. Its either that or try and find some aftermarket stiffer springs for the Fox shocks. The long travel shock springs are not really made for  jacking up the GC, they are a softer spring so that you can get the full stroke of the long travel shock. I  really like the new RZRS, but lets face it, it really was made and designed for the folks in the dunes and MX tracks. Im sure you can find some aftermarket springs for them, just a shame to pay $14000 plus for something you will have to turn around and buy springs for. JMO.

Man, I know what you mean about gettin a CATVOS Lift.
I prolly will end up with one too. I just wished they werent
priced so dang high. I know what they say, you get what you
pay for, But dangit boy, $4000.  Its sad when you can lift a Z71
6" for about half of that. Somebody at catvos is gettin paid
          good!
          haha.

For the extra 4 k you should be able to add A class parts to a stock razr and have a better version of a S model.

O.K. I can relate to what you all are saying about the lift and the extra 4K but lets get real I paid 15 out the door with a 5 year extended warantee and the only issue I have is with the weak springs and from what Im hearing it may be defective springs. (Covered Under Warantee) Other than that I couldnt get a stock razr and the long travel kit for 15K not to mention all the other mods + warantee and all the extras that come on the S that the regular razr dont have. Overall I am very very happy with this machine. We took it to Creek Bottom and OMG even with the springs sagging to 12 inches of lift there were no limitations! OVERALL THE S MODEL ROCKS and I assure you its the purcahse to make over the stock model. I would say best bang for your buck. The guys at Offroad Powersports in Tifton Ga are awsome that is the place to go to purchase.
