Anybody have one yet?  If so what kind of fuel ecconomy do you get?  How do they start in the cold 2007's? -20-25 celcius?  Are you happy with it?

all the new diesel have good points and bad points......... But they all suck since they have the DPF set up on them for regens on the emissions setup........ Try to find u  a 06 model if possible.    My wife has the new 6.7 cummins, we havent had any problems with it, but i have heard of a few problems, but getts the best fuel milage out of all the new diesels and i believe it has the biggest HP/TQ    with 350/650.......   Ford has had a lot of set backs with the piggy back turbo setup and the new 6.4. they  realy aint that impressive and they have had block problems. Ford has the worst milage.  But the ford looks the best.     Then chevy didnt build a bigger motor when they added the DPF so they lost some power and not that great on fuel milage, but dang they are the cadillacs when it comes to comfort.

I have always's been a chevy guy however if they put the old 7.3 diesel into the chevy chassis that would be one **** of a truck.

I'm not trying cause an uproar but, the 2008 Duramax (LMM engine) has 365 and 660 HP/TQ.  Most of the fuel milage reported is in the
neighborhood of  14-15 city and 17-18 hwy.  Some people say they get better mileage than that and others get worse.  I think most of it depends on driving style.  You can read/research all you want about the three different diesels out today at, dieselplace.com (duramax), dieselstop.com (powerstroke) and turbodieselregistry.com (cummins).

I would love a Ford King Ranch with the 5.9L Cummins in front of an Allison 6 speed.  I would never have to buy another truck.  I'm not a big fan of Chevy's IFS.

I went over the pros and cons of a new Duramax roughly a year ago, before purchasing our current truck.

Pros:

Love the looks of the new body style.
Interior style and comfort are the best in the business.
Best ride quality of any heavy duty truck.
Adequate power to tow the 37' fifth wheel toy hauler we have.

Cons:

New diesel emission control systems are over complicated, and no one has come up with an ideal system yet.  The potential for needing extra maintenance just for the emission system is high.
Fuel mileage not as good as pre-emissions diesels.
The cost of the truck itself.
The absolutely stupid cost of the diesel fuel that goes in the truck.

When I bought my truck there were still a very few left over 2007 Sierra Classic GMCs around.  So after weighing the pros and cons, I decided to buy a pre-emissions Duramax.  My local dealer located a crew cab dually just one state away from us, and had it shipped to me.  I've been happy with the way it has worked so far.  Although I only get 14 mpg on the highway empty, and I get 10 mpg towing the trailer in this picture, and 9 mpg towing the fifth wheel toy hauler.

The 2006 LBZ engines cant be beat IMO.  Id try to find a used one of those.

ITs got the power, without the added emissions BS.

buddy just bought one and they are great on fuel, espically since there tank is so small compared to the ford and dodge. but with diesel being 12 cents more a liter and the inital cost of 8 to 10 grand, unless you are towin some thing big cant see it being worth it. Truck hauls a ss though.

yeap if you dont need one for towing they really cost to much for just normal driving (unless its just somthing you gotta have lol )  i looked and them when i bought my little truck and it was going to cost me $15,000 more for the same truck ( some stuff on it and all) because they would not come down off the price and my 5.3L they knocked off $9,000 dollars off the sticker.
yes it has less power and wont tow as much but it will do want i need it to easy enough and gets 18.5mpg empty just checked it today lol .

but man if you got a big trailer to pull they will get r done..
yeah just rambling on

I didn't want all the new emissions crap and didn't like the new body style. After a while of being on the road and the boys over at http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/index.php figured out how to work on, so to speak, the emissions on the NBS they will make an excellent truck. I have had bad luck with the other Big 3 and GM is all I will own.

I bought the 07 GMC Classic Crew 4x4 with the Duramax and couldn't be happier. I have done several mods, just for fun and it gets 16-17 mpg's avg. I put a 4" straight on it because the entire exhaust system just fell off. I also leveled it with a Cognito kit and Billsteins, and 33"s. I am running the Diablo 120 now and it has enough get up to put a big smile on, probably around the 400-420 rwhp now.

One more thing, I hope you have deep pockets. There is a lot of things you can do with these new diesels. The only con I can see is the inflated diesel fuel prices, which is still more economical if you tow some.

There were actually two different models for the 2007 model year (at least with the GMC model).  The early 2007's were the Sierra Classic version, and had the old body style and pre-emissions LBZ Duramax engine.  Thats what I bought.  The other version is technically a 2007.5, and is the new body style Sierra with the new Duramax and new emissions system.

I just got back from Gulf Shores. I pulled my 28' Travel Trailer(8900 lbs. loaded) an got 11 mpg on average with my 06 Powerstroke. My buddy with his 06 Dodge got 16 mpg pulling his 30' Travel Trailer(7800 lbs. loaded). A older gentleman with his 08 Chevrolet Duramax pulling a 22' Toyahuler (empty) just bought it he said he was getting around 10 mpg. So if you are going to buy a 3/4 Ton, I HATE to say this, but buy a Dodge.

A LBZ can be beaten...  Try the old LB7..  We just got in the new DPF delete pipes.  All you have to do is unbolt and bolt the new one in.  Buy a programmer and tune it.  Mileage will come back after that...

Take off the emission stuff. All you have to do is get a turbo back for a LBZ and get a chip that deletes the DPF(emissions) and you will get great mileage.

I cant ever keep the Dmax RPOs straight. but i tuned my buddys 2001 LB7? 2wd and he has been averaging 24-25 on the interstate @70mph..  Had some help from a few different diesel guys cause ive only messed with the LS engines. Tuning Diesels is still a mystery for me.
