I'm almost certain that you can run the 12:1 on 93 octane pump gas no problem.  Elaborate on the PCP cam because I am looking at this same setup for my 700H1...  Also, PM papa_slap... He has already done some extensive research thru CP and HotSeat on this setup I believe

pcpoffrad sells a decent amount of parts for the 650 motor. they have the 670 11.5:1 compression big bore and a couple stock bore pistons. along with a cam that has .365 lift for 285 deg. which is alot more lift than the cam that I have in my 650 now. I am running the web cam out of the 500's and it is allright but I think it is pretty close to stock.

i don't think that cam is the one you are going to want to run with that duration and lift, it's angled more towards a mid to high range cam the one from speedworx is more of a overall range cam - low-mid-high rpm range.  JMOP.  I have the 11:1 speedwerx piston and it made a world of difference.  I am personally waiting for the speedwerx 700 bbk set up with the 12:1 ratio which would be borderline pump gas (93 octane).

yeah waiting for that 700cc HC piston and cam

But to that one question 12:1 safe on pump gas..??  just seems like it would be to high for pump gas...?

I know in the car world, 11:1 with aluminum heads is borderline for pump gas. Aluminum will dissapate (sp) the heat better than cast iron.

yeap thats what i thought as well, once you get over that normal pump gas dont cut it just did not no if a quad motor was any different because some said you could run 12:1 on pump gas..
I still think iam going to get the 11:1 piston and then get s N.O.S kit and spray it as well..lol  just a small shot..

Well there was someone in the Cat section that posted they were running 12:1 on pump gas with no problems.  You could run E85 or off the shelf octane booster if need be and still comply with HLPSR and CMR Pro B class rules I think as long as it's not "Race" gas...

I think you could run the 12:1 on 93 cause i can run my 11:1 on plus and it doesn't ping but it doesn't run as well as when i run super.

I just dont want to have to mess with buying race gas and all, now if it was at every gas station it would be different.lol
i got a 500 sticker on my pod and people allready freak out when they see it run thinking its a 500..lol

Haha I see how you roll Garrett! A "sleeper" bike! haha... I think 12:1 will be fine on 93 pump gas.  Anything over that such as 12.2:1 or 12.6:1 and I think your gonna be pinging.

i want to put a nos kit on it and hide the bottle in one of my ammo boxes lol that will get them too.

If you don't want a big shot go with the Sneaky Pete NOS system... It's only like 200 bucks

just because its a 12/1 piston doesn't mean your going to have 12/1.
that's all going to depend on chamber volume and gasket volume along with deck height etc.

You deal in alot of variables when it comes to "what can be compressed how much".  Ambient air temp, fuel temp, a/f ratio, rpm, initial spark advance, cylinder head volume, range of the plug used, etc...

No one number will work for everything or even every condition.  12:1 will be fine in the Cat motor though!  The stock spark timing isn't all that aggressive, imo...

Jarrett... What's the word on the pistons? Anybody else on board? If not I may just wait it out for HotSeat.  Lemme know... I got about a grand to drop in the 12:1, cam and clutching.  Got some c-locks on the way too I believe

I have no fewer than 5 people wanting them right now...

Need to get it done!  After the first of the year, I dunno how much spare time I will have to help build it.  I'll have the entire month of december off...

So then everyone thinks 12:1 will be fine with pump gas.? and thats because it might not be a full 12:1 and has a none aggresize timing profile..  sound good to me,

Bumping this post so that I don't clutter with a new one...

Anybody know if there is a 11:1 HC for the 700H1 yet?  Going a different direction with the Cat and don't really need 12:1

I don't want to wait for the 700 high comp. piston, so I might get the 14:1 piston for the 650 that speedwerx has and just mix some av-gas with it. I live 10 mins. from a small airport, so I can get av-gas as easy as when I used to drag race. I will get the web cam too, and wake the ol' cat up!

Any thoughts about the 14:1 piston, or the web cam? Chime in.

14:1

i would be real interested to know if the stock bore 14:1 with a cam would make more HP then a 700cc kit with a cam (only stock compression)..???

I think maybe the 14: 1 but would it be reliable..?

what about the 670bbk with 12:1 piston and cam..??  another 29ccs is a nice amount..

14:1

i would be real interested to know if the stock bore 14:1 with a cam would make more HP then a 700cc kit with a cam (only stock compression)..???

I think maybe the 14: 1 but would it be reliable..?

what about the 670bbk with 12:1 piston and cam..??  another 29ccs is a nice amount..

IDK... maybe I should just get the stock 700 and the web cam... nah!!!! I want some serious low end power! I will not rush in to the 14:1, I will get some more info 1st!
