Anyone line one up yet for a drag race yet? I haven't seen any posts on the subject. I have heard that the 800R eats up the 850 all the way through to top speed.... But I haven't viewed this in person.

I haven't seen it, but I would think the 800R would win. The 08 outty is in front in the low end and loses by a hair on the top. So I would guess the 800R would tie with it off the bottom and slightly leave it at the top. My guess...

we done it. It came down to who got the jump. the 850 will walk down the outty around 275ft. which we were on a dirt road, and traction was a big prob. Both are really fast ! the outty seemed to launch hardest and lead out , then the popo would gain quick.

They aren't even the same type of bike..........

If the 800r and 850 are neck and neck, then the gade is faster.

Renegade is 607dry

The Gade is 710 lbs wet. (we weighed 2 of them)

Most quads gain around 50 lbs once they are full of fuel and ready to ride.

No way its 607 dry. Can am is full of BS putting that number in the manual and in their specs.

All of the 09's are 20% limited by the throttle screw. You have to take it out if you hadn't already.

that's the bigger piece of the low end power issue, but the throttle limit screws are not properly adjusted on a lot of 800R's.  something i was wondering about the other day was if it is possible to open the throttle too much.  i know they hook up the BUDS equipment to adjust the throttle limit screw and adjust it to 85%.  does that mean that if it goes past 85%, could you lose power?

what i was getting at is if can-am says to adjust it to 85% for peak power, would going past that yield less power?

Well the POPO infomercial says they are the same in a 300'or was it 500' race so I would give the nod to the canned hams since there infomercials say they are the same.  But even be side by side says they have come along ways now if there reliability is there they may have a wieener.

I thought that was an 08 Outlander.

The new 09 Outlander has 67 hp where the 08 only had 61.

The 09 vs 08 is a drivers race. I'd bet an 08 will give the PoPo a better run in the 300ft race. I have know clue where BRP gets the 1 sec. claim.

i just put a 2" pipe lift , spacers, and 28" zillas on my 800r .  The 850 walked out 1 1/2  in a 300' race on pavement in high range. we had to do the low range in dirt in 4wd, and 45mph for the outty, 41 on the xp was top speed with the outty gettin there quicker, about 3-4 spaces out front.
09 800r  28x14" zillas
09 850xp  stock tires
so i think both are great powerplants . And i have to add this for a friend (on a popo)!!! It takes 50 more cc's to keep up wid the outty

not so sure its driver error. when you leave on time, smash it all the way, dont spin out, keep the front down, its a good race. i have not backed my throttle screw out, its still bout a 1/4" in. should i go ahead and move it?

Most definitely. You're at 15% power loss with it in there.

kratos, i read earlier a question asked about the factory setting on the screw and if pulling it back would actually take some power. I never seen an answer to that, what are your thoughts?

It has been dyno proven that pulling it out will give you the full 67hp they claim at WOT. The engine and a/f ratio has been calibrated precisely for it being pulled out. Why it's in there limiting the power, I don't know. If you want a direct link to a thread about it, just pm me. But you don't need to read that 4 page thread; trust me it's proven. You will see a difference in your machine for sure.
