I've got an 08 Ext Cab Silverado with the 5.3 V8. Looking for a programmer. Anyone have any experiences with any on there 07 or newer Silverado's? If so let me know which one and what you like about it. I had a Hypertech on my last truck and will not waste my money on that piece of crap again. Would really like to get one this time around with the display.

Does it have the screen where you can mount it on the dash? Do you have any other performance mods? Exhaust, intake, etc??  What kind of gas mileage are you getting now?

If you plan on modding then I would go with HP Tuners. You can tune it yourself. I have tune a few 5.3's and they have experienced great mpg and power gains.

Not really wanting to do any serious mods. Would like to ad an exhaust and a cold air intake and a programmer. Just would like to have the ability to change a setting to give it some serious horsepower when I wanted it.

I agree, if you arent going to tune your self than get a custom tune. Programmers arent going to do much for a gas motor.

Will those custom tuners void the warranty?

Thunder racing knows there stuff about chevys, but dont try to bring tuning software for any other brand over there our they will look at you like your talking a foreign language.  I know some guys with titans who have uprev which is like EFI live for chevy's that allow you to tune the truck yourself.  All they wanted to do was use there dyno to tune their trucks themeselves and guys at thunder racing were complete jerks about it.

If you take your truck in for work they can detect the tune. I like HP Tuners because if I take mine in for warranty work then I just put the stock tune back on it.

Keep thinking that...

No matter what you try to do, they know its not a factory calibration..
You change something and put it back to stock it will show... I dunno about the 08 Gassers, but on the LMM Dmax and new Vettes it shows...
