Not impressed

I'd like to know if the 07 is clutched or what mods he has. With it being that close, put the bigger guy on the X & he'd wear his butt out!  Just seeing that, I'm with you, not impressed, but not knopwing what's done to each leaves room for doubt! It deff looks like the bigger guy is a much more experienced rider, as he gets the hole shot nearly everytime(at least for the races I watched, didn't watch all of them)!
Have you went to order your 800XT R yet? I'm a good bud of Matprice, he's excited about getting your bike!  Later        Brandon

One of the guys I know tested the 09 (offical factory trip) and said the bottom end on the 09's is not as snappy.  He said the midrange was stronger but the bottom end was not nearly as much fun as previous years.

Looks like the power is only at the top and the race only tested bottom and midrange. The new top power was designed to do only one thing, get the nose in front of the kitty at the end. However, from the video it looks like they may have accomplished it with the rene but it doesn't look good for the outty from what I'm seeing. But don't take that the wrong way. I want the outty to win but it doesn't look like it will.

I think its bad to the bone! Its as fast or faster. I had a feeling the whole time it was going to be like that(so close you cant tell) Like everyone says the motor isn't broken in all the way yet (14 hrs) and I need to get my shocks dialed in. Suspension is very important on the hole shot.

I was exspecting it to be alot faster.

When Can-am brought the demos to Busco Beach, I was playin around with them on the dragstrip alittle. (It was late Sunday and there was nothing else to do, they were all racing so I joined them) Now I know a stock Reny doesn't stand a chance against the turbo but, after we raced a few times the guys from Can-am were talkin smack about the R. "Just wait till the 800R comes out then we will see what you got." So after hearing that I was expecting alittle more.

But I uderstand from a realistic standpoint, that what changes they made aren't going to make it a rocket ship.

Nonetheless, I'm glad to see Can-am continuously raise the bar each year!

A little off topic, but can the renegade's frame and chasis handle a bigger engine or is it maxed out at 800cc's as far as size and weight goes? I know the outlander won't have a problem with a 1000cc motor but it might be hard to make an engine that size in a sporty bike like the gade.

The outlander and the gade have the same frame. With the plastics off the bike the 800 rotax actually looks small. I pretty sure it will handle some more motor. I've heard that a cylinder swap from a SEA-DOO or SKI-DOO (don't know which) will take it to over 1000cc's. I sure it want be long before they will be using bigger engines.

That's what I'm hoping for. I don't know if I should get an 09 gade now or wait till 2010 for a possible bigger bore from can am. Don't get me wrong, the power of the gade now is sick and possibly enough, but I don't want to miss a chance for the 1000 if it comes out next year.

Havent had a chance to get a full top end run out of mine yet with the rain we've had, I spent a little time today between the 08 x and the 09 r. So far, its a noticible difference as far as the low end is concerned but on the r, once I started to get the rpms up you could start to feel the motor wanting to catch that gear and move. Only prob was that I would run out of room. Mines only got maybe 20 minutes on it so I'm hoping for a good break in ride this weekend.

How tamed is the low end? It's not so tamed that it's lost some of its fun factor is it? What makes a bike fun is that snap when you come out of a hole or off a good corner.

I was saying that as a joke. I didn't really mean it. I was just trying to say that some bike are stronger than others. Not all of them are equal if that makes sense. You got some that run like speedy gonzales and some run like a turtle.

Kratos, done get me wrong its still stout on the low end. Enough to still get the front wheels of the ground in high range on command. The power is still there but seems to be shifted more to the mid to high range section of the motor. It doesnt seem to have that "snap" that the 08 had at the the first crack of the throttle but  you know your on a can-am when you mash on it. The plus side was that when I got to the midrange power of the motor, you could feel the power more and the accelertaion better on the 09 than the 08..The intakes are noticably larger and the air filter is enormous.

Is the differences worth trading in an 07 for the 09...

And would a clutch kit help the low end  or would it hurt the high end...

That's good to hear. When I get the rene, I want to feel the beast from bottom to top. But I guess it doesn't matter anyway. Stuff like this can be fixed with very simple clutching. If can am clutching has any similarity to my Cat, all I have to do is make the weights a little lighter and get a stiffer spring, and I'll be wanting her to be tamed then.

Clutching helps bottom end tremendously. Top end can be effected depending on what you do. Sometimes you can bypass that.

I'll say they sell like hotcakes.  Our dealer has six coming in, and all of them are pre sold.  They found mine at another dealer 180 miles away, and in another state, and went and picked it up for me.  They delivered it at my  house at 8:00 at night on the day I bought it.

It would definitely help the low end.. What I failed to mention in my earlier post was that the 09's are running a heavier fly weight. THey have gone to a stock outlander weight which is 2 grams heavier than an 08's flyweight
