THIS FOR YOU ARTIC CAT GURU'S. BUDDY OF MINE OWNS A 06 H1 PROWLER, DOES IT COME WITH THE 4.0 GEARS? SECOND, HE'S RUNNING 31'S, AND EVER SINCE HE PUT IN THE CLUTCH KIT HE KEEPS ON SMOKING BELTS? NOW MY FIRST ASSUMPTION WOULD BE THAT HE WORE A GROVE IN THE SHEAVE AND IT GLAZING THE BELT? NOW, IM A POPO GUY BUT I FIGURE THEY ARE ALL IN A ROUND ABOUT WAY THE SAME, SO I TOLD HIM TO TAKE THE CLUTCH KIT OFF AND RUN STOCK PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SPRINGS WITH HEAVY WEIGHTS LIKE FROM DALTON OR SOMETHING? IS THIS RIGHT? ALSO TOLD HIM TO RUN STOCK BELT. ANT SUGGESTIONS?

yes it has 4.0's.  as far as the belt smoking thing, there is something bad wrong.  I would take it out, put it back to stock and start over.  Those belts dont slip.  The tranny usually lets go first!

I would also say that somethig was put back together wrong. I would think it is probably the secondary spring tension that is causing the belt to slip. it may have not been tensioned back to stock setting before being re installed. you have to mark it before disassembly to know where to set it when going back together. this link will give him pretty much all the info he will need to go back into the secondary and tighten things up.

On the heavy weight issue that is not applicable on the AC. most of us run lighter clutch rollers to keep the bike in a lower gear longer. He can take off his stock clutch rollers push out the metal inserts and drill a 1/4" hole in them to lighten them up and re install. Along with doing the secondary mod that should fix him up.

Good advice Cajun!  I drilled 5/16 holes in my rollers and I really like the way it pulls now.
