I was talking to my uncle about what kind of rifle I should get, and told him I was considering a Weatherby .270. He told me I should get a Weatherby Accumark .257, and was telling me how much he loved his. Until now I have never heard of a .257 caliber rifle, I was just wondering if anyone could give some info about it, like how does it compare to a .270, .30-06, ect in knockdown power, accuracy ect. Thanks.

Are you talking about the .257 Weatherby Magnum or the .257 Roberts?

My uncle wants to get a Thomson Center .257. People say they are excellent calibers so mine as well try them out.

My dad has a .257 Roberts and he drives nails with it at 200 yards.  It's a great rifle that doesn't beat you to death.

I have a Winchester Model 70 featherweight in .257 Roberts,  we reload 120g Nosler Partition's in it and they do lots of damage to deer.  I would be willing to make a 200-225yd shot but over that would be pushing it.  Also like mentioned above, very low recoil!  The .257 Weather Magnum is alot hotter cartridge.  250yd shot shouldn't be a problem with it.  Although...I think Weatherby bullets are very high!

I looked at the .257 Weatherby Mag.  The ammo was too expensive for it.
